LoCorr Funds was founded on the belief that non-traditional investments with low correlation to investments like stocks and bonds can reduce risk and increase portfolio returns. LoCorr offers a growing family of mutual funds and a hedge fund to a wide network of investment firms. These products include managed futures, portable alpha, long/short equity, long/short commodity, and alternative income offerings. Currently, LoCorr has approximately $3 billion in assets under management across this fund lineup.
Our investment due diligence team is responsible for researching and selecting investment managers for utilization in our funds, overall fund construction, and supporting the sales and marketing efforts at the firm.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Research Analyst will have a significant impact on the success of the organization and team. This individual will have a variety of responsibilities ranging from conducting investment manager due diligence on alternative investment managers, asset class research, and supporting the sales and marketing efforts of the firm. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, an effective communicator, and able to thrive in a team-based environment while demonstrating a high level of initiative.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support senior analysts and portfolio managers in the fund/manager due diligence and oversight process
Perform ad hoc investment research and analysis on capital markets, asset classes including alternative investments, competitor products, etc.
Respond to inquiries from the firm’s wholesalers and third parties
Compile data to assist marketing team in the production and updating of material
Maintain and develop proprietary databases and analytical tools to enhance the team’s overall research process and analytical capabilities
IDEAL CANDIDATE
High initiative and interest in the investment industry
0 – 3 years of experience in the investment industry
Desire to pursue CFA designation
Highly proficient in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel
Knowledge of Python or motivation to learn
Strong and effective communicator – oral and written
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
BS or BA in finance, economics, or similar
